"Cone for Two"

The little boy in this work looks uncertain, as if not sure what to do about the saucy little kitten interested in his cone. He's had the cone a while because he has ice cream on his mouth and chin and the cone has started to melt. His parents probably settled him down in the grass for the cone because they know little boys and ice cream make a big mess. The boy is dealing with a lot of new things just now. How do you hold an ice cream cone? How do you get it in your mouth? What do you do when the cone gets soggy and starts falling apart, or when a furry little friend of yours comes up and wants a lick? The boy looks bewildered. "He's a little newcomer just learning about life, and ice cream," Zolan says, "and here's another newcomer making himself right at home with his cone." The kitten is still sniffing the ice cream. In another moment his pink tongue will probably take a lick.
